EXCELLENCE GROUNDED IN 25+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

About Michael Surrago

Michael Surrago brings over 25 years of educational experience—and a rare mastery across multiple subjects to every student interaction. He doesn’t just know math, science, English, or history: he understands the common confusions, mental blocks, and frustration points that many learners face. What sets him apart is his gift for dismantling those obstacles with warmth, clarity, and even fun. He connects with students of all ages, from young students to adult learners. He meets them where they are and makes the material come alive.

It’s from this deep insight and natural teaching talent that Math in a Month™ was born. This approach begins as a conversational journey into mathematical ideas—no intimidating jargon, no mysterious leaps. From there, foundational skills are carefully built, and once a strong base is established, the method accelerates practice and exploration to foster real progress.

Michael’s newest project is From Counting Through Calculus, a full curriculum applying the Math in a Monthâ„¢ philosophy to high school math. It’s structured around intuitive diagrams you’ll learn to draw and internalize, paired with a narrative about math’s evolution—from ancient counting and geometry through vector calculus, linear algebra, differential geometry, and topology.

At heart, Michael’s mission is simple yet bold: designing a Kindergarten‑through‑Calculus curriculum that is accessible, engaging, and learnable by students of all ages. Explore his blog to dive deeper, or see his work with parents and educators beyond math.
